Step 1: Find the right therapist with our matching questionnaire

Use our 5-minute matching tool to narrow down your search and find the top 3 therapists best suited for you and your partner’s needs.

Step 2: Schedule your first appointment

Our therapist matching survey will highlight the top 3 therapist matches for you to pick from, but you’re also welcome to browse the rest of our DiveThru therapists. Once you’re ready, book your first appointment and add in your partner(s) who will be attending therapy as well. The very first couples counselling appointment booked is typically 80 minutes to account for the extra time needed for this initial intake session. From there, you and your therapist can choose whether you’d like these future sessions to be 50 minutes or 80 minutes. You and your therapists will come to a treatment plan and best course of action for sessions with you and your partner.

Step 3: Complete your consent and intake forms

Log in to your DiveThru profile and head to Settings > Forms to find the intake and consent forms you need to complete before your first session. If you’ve downloaded the DiveThru App, you can complete them right in there! Completing these well in advance of your session helps your therapist prepare and make the most of your first appointment together. You can also use a desktop browser for this step by logging in to our portal. Your partner will also receive their own login prompts to go through this step! Our studio coordinators will reach out with anything else that may be needed.

Step 4: Attend your first therapy session

Whether virtually or in person, we’re happy to welcome you to DiveThru! For those attending in person, our waiting room is cozy and relaxing and stocked with snacks, beverages, and fun mental health stickers. Our therapy rooms have large couches and can comfortably sit 2–3 people at a time. For relationships with more members, please reach out to us and we can coordinate any additional accommodations. If you’re attending virtually, you will receive a video link the day of your appointment.

Step 5: Schedule your future sessions

At the end of your session, you and your therapist can discuss plan for treatment and schedule future sessions if it feels appropriate. Our studio coordinators will handle fee payment by charging your credit card on file (if virtual) and check in with you on preferred method of payment (if in person).
