Of course! We created our matching process to make sure every client is paired with a DiveThru Therapist that is the best fit possible. If you already know which therapist you’d like to see, you can book an appointment directly with them.
We know the therapist-client fit is so important to the therapeutic relationship and we will do everything in our power to make sure you and your DiveThru Therapist are the right match. If you feel that you may not be the right fit and would like to see a different therapist, please feel comfortable bringing that up with your current therapist! We promise they want what’s best for you. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, you can always email us at hello@divethru.com or give us a call (find the individual number on the studio info page).
Nope! You can book a therapy appointment without being a DiveThru member.
Nope! The app is free for everyone to use. Anyone can download the app for free and access the free self-guided tools found within it.
We do not offer direct billing to insurance providers at the moment. You will receive a receipt upon every session, which you can use to claim with your insurance provider. If you are planning to submit your therapy receipts to your insurance company, make sure to check your coverage for what you are eligible to claim. Therapists range in their professional titles, education, and fees. Appointment durations (60 min vs 90 min sessions) may also vary across various insurance providers.
As we’re just getting started, we’re not offering sliding scale at this time. We do have plans to offer this accommodation in the future. We’ll update our website and socials when sliding scale becomes available!
Whether you’re booking individual, couples’ or family appointments, the process is the same! To book your very first appointment, create a profile first. Once you’ve got your profile set up, you can browse your therapist’s schedule for openings and book whenever you’re ready! Jot down your username and password and in the future, all you’ll have to do is log in (log In button in the menu) to book your appointments.
If you have a mental health concern you want to work on, you can benefit from therapy. These issues may involve experiencing negative or unwanted feelings or issues with daily living or school/work/relationships. You may be wanting to learn more about yourself or develop positive coping strategies. You can be really struggling, or just hoping to get ahead of some issues you’re noticing. As long as you are working towards a goal, anyone can attend therapy.
At DiveThru, our main focus is to find you the right therapist. With this in mind, we’ve made a therapist matching process that makes finding a therapist a breeze! Click the “Find A Therapist” button in the menu so we can learn more about what you’re looking for and once you’re ready, hit submit. You’ll then get your top 3 DiveThru Therapist matches and can browse through their profiles to learn more about each of them. From there, booking your first appointment is a short click away!
When booking your session, the platform will prompt you to enter and save your credit card information. To book an appointment, you have to have a card saved on file. At the beginning of each session, the clinic coordinator will ask you if it is OK to charge your credit card. If you choose not to charge your credit card, you can pay in cash or debit. If you are attending a virtual session, your credit card will be charged before or shortly after your session.
Feel free to reach out to us at hello@divethru.com and we’ll do our best to answer your questions!
Our individual 60 minute counselling sessions are $200. Our fees are in accordance with the recommendations outlined by the Psychological Association of Alberta.
After booking your very first appointment, you will receive a few emails from us that will give you more info on next steps. First, we’ll have to take care of some paperwork. You will receive an Intake Form, which we’ll ask that you fill out ahead of time. This will take about 5-10 minutes to complete. Second, we will send you two other forms to review before your first appointment: a consent to participate in counselling form and a consent to participate in telepsychology form. During your first session, you and your therapist will discuss consent in more detail, sign these two forms, talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and go through any other questions you may have about therapy or the therapist’s approach. For now, all that’s left for you to do is jot down your appointment in your calendar and you’re set!
We are currently serving Alberta, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick virtually. If you’re in Edmonton, you can also attend a mixture of in-person and virtual appointments.
We request that you give us as much notice as possible when canceling or rescheduling your appointment so that we can open up that slot time for someone else who may really need it. For cancellations that are less than 48 hours in advance, we will be charging the full session price.

A standard session is 50 minutes, with 10 minutes left over for your therapist to take notes from your session. Depending on the type of therapy and your circumstances, you and your therapist may decide if a 90 minute session is more fitting.

We know that sometimes there are a lot of nuances to people’s experiences that might
just be easier to explain to a human! You can email our team or reach out to the individual studio you’re looking to attend. You can find the phone number on each studio page.

The very first session is when our DiveThru therapists will require your presence in order to obtain consent for your child or teen (anyone under 18 years of age) to participate in therapy. In this session, you and the child’s therapist can discuss family involvement in future sessions. If your child is 12 years or younger, we reserve that very first session for a meeting between the therapist and the legal guardian(s) only to discuss your child’s therapy plan. ***Please note: only legal guardians can provide consent. If parents are separated or divorced and have joint custody, BOTH parents will need to provide consent for the child or youth to participate in therapy. If one parent has sole custody of the child, please bring guardianship documents to the first session.***

We encourage you to bring this concern up with your child’s therapist and provide any additional details that can help us find the right fit.
