MSW, Registered Social Worker

“Hi, I’m Jumai! I have previously worked in areas around complex trauma, borderline/narcissistic personality disorder, mood disorder, relationship problems, self-esteem, and anger management. In session, I use strength-based and self-compassionate approaches to therapeutic interventions. I am passionate about serving a wide variety of populations, including children, adults, couples, families, seniors, veterans and active members of the Canadian armed forces. When you work with me, I will assist you in creating a specialized treatment plan after an initial assessment and help you move forward with approaches that fit your needs.”

  • My Approach

My practice is guided by Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), Emotional-focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectal Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy (NT). Further, I am certified in advanced "Tree of Life," which uses the narrative lens for an Afrocentric and aboriginal narrative practice. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to get support when they are ready and are energized by those looking for the opportunity to a positive change.

  • My Philosophy

In my work, I use a client-centred, trauma-informed approach, knowing that clients are the experts of their own life. My role is to guide the client as to how they want to use the GPS of their lives. Additionally, I use an anti-oppressive lens by identifying the different intersectionalities, especially for minority individuals while supporting their healing and recovery.

  • My Why

I am passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of individuals. Life's challenges can prevent individuals from living the life that they want and experiencing their optimal best. But, I am here to support you through the process and believe that everyone deserves to experience a life worth living.
