My therapeutic approach is rooted in providing person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally competent therapy. I strive to create a safe, compassionate space where individuals can share their experiences without fear of judgment. I adapt my methods to each client's unique needs but am particularly drawn to narrative therapy as it empowers clients to be the experts of their own stories. I incorporate metaphors in my practice to deepen understanding and facilitate therapeutic growth.
My philosophy is grounded in creating a space where I can walk alongside my clients to create impactful connections as we sit together with their feelings and navigate their experiences free from criticism. I want to provide an understanding that the therapeutic journey is non-linear, embrace the process without pressure, and lead with empathy, recognizing the person in front of me. I want to understand who my clients are outside of why they came to therapy; this will support a strong therapeutic relationship where feedback can be provided to adjust the therapeutic process to the client’s needs.
From the moment I sat down in my Introduction to Psychology course during my undergraduate program, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in psychology. My passion for understanding the motivation behind individuals' behavior, combined with my desire to help others, naturally led me to become a psychologist. Being known as the ‘therapist’ of my friend group only reinforced this calling. I am fully committed to this profession as I can make meaningful impacts on the lives of others.
