Although my primary approach to therapy is cognitive-behavioural, I draw from other modalities such as Solutions-focused, emotionally-focused, and mindfulness-based to name a few. My primary focus is to meet you where you are, so that you get to be yourself in a safe and comfortable environment, whether that is a supportive reflection or a more active-directive approach sprinkled with some humour! Therapy (and life) can be uncomfortable and challenging, and I want to make sure you have the tools that work best for you to be able to deal with the challenges that come your way.
Whether you are trying therapy for the first time, or have been working towards your goals for a while, I am here to meet you where you're at. I believe in a client-centred, collaborative approach to therapy and healing can happen in a place where you feel respected, safe, and heard. My approach to therapy is one that is anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and intersectional. As an immigrant woman myself, I understand how systemic oppression can impact mental well-being and I hope to help clients cultivate self-discovery, empowerment, and connection to further their healing within systemic barriers.
I became a counselling psychologist for the very simple reason of wanting to help others! Growing up I knew I wanted to help others in some way, shape, or form, and going through school, I learned about counselling. I knew immediately that it was what I wanted to pursue. It feels incredibly natural to me to listen to people's stories. Going through graduate school helped me cultivate those skills of a listener and start helping people find meaning and empowerment by digging deeper into those stories. I believe that everyone has a story to tell and becoming a therapist gives me the opportunity to hear yours! Additionally, it helps me connect with you deeply and wholeheartedly to ensure I am able to help you heal.
