My approach is founded on two beliefs. One is that people want to be their best selves; they may just need some help finding what their best self looks like. Two is that humans are social animals; our brains are built for connection and we need safety to feel like we can heal, deal, grow and change.
In therapy, I operate from a trauma-informed and person-centered approach. I aim to listen non-judgmentally and with care. Most importantly, I believe that people are resilient. My focus within session is on how I am, not what I do. I strive to offer culturally sensitive treatment, where I acknowledge and encourage people to explore the way their thoughts, feelings, and surroundings impact the choices they make and actions they take.
I hold training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Strength Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Thera-play (Level One Foundational), and Trauma-Focused Expressive Arts Therapy. I hold over 9 years of experience within the mental health field providing evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals, groups, and families. I’ve worked for non-profit organizations, school-based services, and Alberta Health Services Community Based Services. In addition, I have experience facilitating both group and individual therapy sessions and workshops.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, binge watching reality tv, weightlifting and solving puzzles.
