My approach to therapy is direct yet empathetic, blending professionalism with a relaxed and optimistic energy—often with a touch of humour. I value collaboration and tailor my approach to each client. If structured exercises or homework help you, we’ll incorporate them. If not, we’ll take a different approach that suits your lifestyle. I believe it is important to balance short-term, solution-focused strategies with deeper exploration to foster lasting change. I primarily use a Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT) approach while integrating tools from modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the Gottman Method.
As a social constructivist, I believe each person’s view of the world is shaped by their unique life experiences. As humans, our reality is formed by our upbringing, the people we cross paths with throughout our lives, and all the painful and beautiful moments we experience. As we show up to our lives each day, our beliefs are either reinforced or challenged based on these same types of influences, and that becomes our understanding of the world. This is the foundation from which I view my clients. I am genuinely interested in how each person’s beliefs have come to be, recognizing what makes them who they are and the strengths they have developed. Change is scary and difficult, and it’s easy to feel stuck—not knowing where to begin or if life can truly feel different. I am here to tell you, it can! Let’s get together to explore what is not aligning in your life and develop a plan to maximize your efforts for change!
The roller coaster of life has certainly taken me for a spin! In the depths of struggle, it’s often hard to see opportunities or hold onto hope for the future. My journey of self-discovery and recovery, following a life-changing accident, helped me uncover a powerful resilience. This challenge ultimately led me to a career in psychology, where I’m truly honoured to help others discover their own strengths and potential. I believe that when we understand how our challenges form us, we can build the confidence and self-efficacy to know that we can, and will, come out the other end as a stronger version of ourselves.
