Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a commonly known mental health condition — and with that comes a lot of information and misconceptions! The truth is, ADHD has many different ways it can impact our lives, and each person’s experience is so personal, making it difficult to navigate your unique needs.

But that’s where we can help! DiveThru’s ADHD assessments provide an understanding of how you or your child experience inattention, hyperactivity /impulsivity, and day-to-day functioning. Through methods such as clinical interviews, standardized testing and review of detailed history, we work to understand any factors that may be affecting everyday activities so you can make informed choices to help enhance you or your child’s well-being.

ADHD assessments for children and youth explore experiences of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity in relation to learning, emotional well-being, and social interactions. And, the assessment will provide personalized strategies and recommendations, helping your child better navigate challenges and maximize their strengths

For adults, ADHD assessments offer insights into your challenges around inattention, hyperactivity and/or impulsivity that may be impacting things like job performance and personal relationships.

benefits of an ADHD assessment

Improved self-awareness

Understanding if you or your child have ADHD can lead to better self-awareness, helping you or your child recognize their strengths and challenges, and learn strategies for success.

Tailored support strategies

An assessment can provide actionable insights into what you or your child are experiencing, enabling parents, teachers, and employers to provide the right support and accommodations.

Enhanced academic or work performance

For children, ADHD assessment recommendations guide interventions that can support focus, organization, and overall academic performance. For adults, it can help optimize productivity and time management.

Address emotional and social impacts

ADHD can sometimes lead to frustration, anxiety, or low self-esteem. An assessment helps identify areas where emotional support and coping strategies are needed.

Clarifies treatment options

Whether or not you receive a diagnosis, assessment results can guide decisions about treatment options such as therapy, medication, or behavioural interventions.

Step 1. Assessment Screening

To begin, take 3 - 5 minutes to answer our questionnaire so we can determine which assessment
may be best for you or your child. Then, our team will connect with you on a call (15 - 20 minutes) to confirm all the details, including a pricing estimate, and to make sure everything fits based on your needs. From there, they’ll walk you through everything you need to know before booking a clinical interview.

Throughout each step of the process, our team will communicate with you regularly via email and answer any questions you may have.

Step 2. Consent and Detailed History Form

If the ADHD assessment is for your child, the child’s legal guardian(s) will be emailed consent forms to complete. If parents are separated/divorced and have custody of the child, all parents will need to provide consent. The psychologist will also review consent in the clinical interview to ensure you understand the assessment process and can ask questions before proceeding.

Along with the consent form, one parent/guardian will also be sent a detailed history form to complete. This form outlines important background information about your child/youth that will help inform your psychologist’s interpretations and the assessment. Please submit these forms as early as possible before your clinical interview.

Step 3. Clinical Interview

The next step involves the clinical interview which will take 80 minutes. Here, you can expect to discuss consent, relevant
history, your presenting concerns, assessment questions and
goals, and the overall assessment process with the psychologist.

Step 4. Collecting Additional Insights (time varies)

With your consent, your psychologist may interview or send forms to
other people in your or your child’s life, such as a health professional, teacher or partner, and conduct observation sessions to collect more insights (depending on the assessment). They may also review past assessments, records, or more. The psychologist will always let you know what information they wish to collect so you are both always on the same page!

Step 5. Testing Sessions (time varies depending on individual client)

The psychologist will schedule you or your child to complete standardized tests. At DiveThru, we use standardized tests to offer a structured, measurable way to assess areas
like attention and cognitive
skills. This helps us get a clear and
comprehensive understanding of your unique
strengths and challenges. The number and length of these sessions will vary depending on the type of assessment and
you or your child’s needs.

Step 6. Feedback Session

Once the psychologist has gathered all the information they need, they will interpret and write a report with personalized recommendations, which may include a diagnosis if appropriate. Our team will schedule you for a 80-minute feedback session where the psychologist will walk you and your child (if applicable) through the findings, talk about potential next steps and answer any questions you may have. After this session, you'll receive the finalized report.

We recognize that assessments are a significant investment of time, energy and resources. Our process helps ensure you leave DiveThru feeling supported, with greater clarity and confidence in your next steps!
